The HandheldWiki Take

The Chipset Bottleneck

The $75 ceiling is where the entry tier matures. You are still choosing between the Allwinner H700 (the RG-35XX family) and the tiny SigmaStar SSD202D in the Miyoo Mini and Mini Plus. Both clear PS1 and most Nintendo DS; the H700 edges into Dreamcast. The SSD202D is remarkable for its size but is firmly a "DS and below" chip — do not expect it to stretch further no matter how the listing is worded.

Display Realities

The Miyoo Mini Plus's 3.5" 640×480 IPS is the reference panel at this price: crisp, accurate, perfectly 4:3. Bigger isn't better here — a 16:9 screen just letterboxes the consoles you actually want to play.

Firmware & Software Reality

This bracket is the home turf of OnionOS (Miyoo) and muOS/Knulli (Anbernic). Budget an afternoon to flash CFW; it is the difference between "cheap gadget" and "the emulator everyone recommends."

Ergonomics & Build

The Mini Plus is genuinely pocketable; the 35XX horizontals are comfier for PS1/DS sessions. Clamshells like the 35XX SP add screen protection at the cost of a little bulk.

The Verdict — Price-to-Performance

The Miyoo Mini Plus ($70) is the default for a reason and earns it. But the Anbernic RG-35XX SP ($65) is the smart-money pick — a satisfying clamshell, more power, and enough muscle for Dreamcast, for less money.
