Analogue Pocket vs RG-280M

Compiled & reviewed by Urs von Gunten, HandheldWiki editorial · How we rate ·

The Analogue Pocket ($99–$250, released December 2021) uses FPGA hardware rather than software emulation, reproducing compatible Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance cartridges at a hardware level, with community-developed cores extending support up to SNES. The RG-280M ($105, released June 2020) takes a horizontal clamshell form and runs OpenDingux on an Ingenic JZ4770, handling systems up to PlayStation 1 through software emulation. Choose the Pocket for cartridge authenticity; choose the RG-280M for broader library reach in a pocketable shell.
