Redream — Emulation Architecture, Settings & Handheld Guide
Redream is an open-source standalone emulator developed by inolen. It is primarily designed to emulate Dreamcast on Android, Windows, Linux, macOS.
Architecture & Technical Design

Developed by inolen, Redream was built with a singular focus: providing an effortless, console-like Dreamcast experience with near-100% library compatibility. Its lightweight software architecture allows it to run at a rock-solid 60 FPS even on entry-level ARM processors like the Rockchip RK3326 and Allwinner H700. The free edition renders at native 480p, while a one-time $5 upgrade unlocks HD upscaling up to 4K resolution.
Target Consoles & System Profiles

Redream is engineered to emulate the following video game hardware platforms:
| Console | Generation | Native Resolution | Original CPU Architecture | Tested Handhelds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dreamcast | 6th generation | VGA 640×480 progressive, 480i | Best Handhelds → |
Recommended Settings & Handheld Optimization

Key settings for balancing framerate, visual fidelity, and battery efficiency on mobile processors:
| Setting | Recommended Value | Technical Impact & Advice |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | 480p (Free) or 1080p/4K (Premium) | Provides ultra-clean upscaling on high-density screens. |
| Per-Pixel Shading | Enabled on capable GPUs | Fixes complex polygon and shadow sorting bugs in titles like Shenmue. |
