Dolphin is an open-source standalone emulator developed by Dolphin Team. It is primarily designed to emulate GameCube, Wii on Android, Windows, Linux, macOS.
Architecture & Technical Design

First released in 2003 by Henrik Rydgård (ector) and F|RES as a closed-source experimental GameCube emulator, Dolphin went open-source under the GPLv2 license in 2008. Over two decades of active development by hundreds of contributors turned it into one of the most polished emulation projects in computing history. It emulates the 485 MHz PowerPC Gekko (GameCube) and 729 MHz Broadway (Wii) CPUs using an advanced Just-In-Time (JIT) dynamic recompiler for x86-64 and AArch64 (ARM64). Graphics calls to the ArtX Flipper and Hollywood GPUs are translated to modern host graphics APIs via Vulkan and Direct3D 12. Dolphin pioneered Hybrid Ubershaders, which dynamically compile specialized host shaders while interpreting uncompiled shaders on the GPU to completely eliminate shader stutter.
