Flycast is an open-source standalone & libretro core emulator developed by flyinghead. It is primarily designed to emulate Dreamcast on Android, Windows, Linux, macOS.

Architecture & Technical Design

Steam Deck — Benchmark handheld tested for high-efficiency Flycast execution.

Flycast originated as an active fork of the reicast codebase, spearheaded by lead developer flyinghead. Through years of relentless refactoring, Flycast added cycle-accurate SH4 CPU cache emulation, comprehensive PowerVR2 tile-based rendering support, and support for Sega's Naomi arcade hardware series. It features per-pixel transparency sorting, internal resolution upscaling, modem and broadband adapter (BBA) network emulation, and automated widescreen cheat injection for popular Dreamcast titles.
